  Signs of the Season
Woody's holding up the handprint card they made at school.
Max is wearing the sweater Woody's working on.
Happy Mothers Day

Lest you think the sweater is out of season, it's been pretty cool and rainy here the last few weeks, and Max has gotten good use out of the Seattle-bought sweater collection

Final Exams, graded and done. So I can take a day or two and recover, and then it's "gear up for conferences and summer session" time!

  Max About Town
At Home
The big news is that Max, after settling down secure in his knowledge of the alphabet for a year or more, is really working on reading. He's been spelling stuff he sees for us so we can tell him what it says, and the other night we got out Hop On Pop and he refused to stop until the book was done. He's also getting into "chapter books": inspired by a school play, we've worked through The Phantom Tollbooth four times now. I don't think Wind in the Willows is going to catch on (can't blame a guy for tryin') but we're halfway through Stuart Little, which we just picked up today!

At the Zoo
We got lucky: in the middle of a seriously drippy week, we had over an hour of bright overcast weather at the Zoo last weekendThis is Namaste, a young male
Max watches Namaste the TigerWhite Tigers are cool.

On and Off Earth
I happened to have a camera in my pocket when we picked him up at school the other day
It's surprising that we don't weigh much more on Saturn.... One of Max's favorite parts of AstroDay is the planets with the recalibrated scales. The portable planetarium was pretty cool, too.
