Animalia
Naturally, wandering around the island with my folks, we ran into a few other living creatures:
The most surprising sighting has to have been these wild pigs, spotted dashing across the Puna coast road.
We saw these sea turtles at the black sands beach on the south side of the island. They're regulars at this end of the island, apparently.
Max is actually the one who spotted them: he and I were walking back from changing out of our beach clothes and he pointed them out to me. I've seen them before, but never three at once.
This gecko was outside the cottage my parents rented. I've gotten lots of pictures of lizards on walls, etc., but the flowers made it a special shot.
Also the fact that he was willing to sit there while I took pictures from other angles and close up....
This one was inside the house. I've got a picture of Max watching Dad take a picture of the same gecko in the earlier post.
Dead dragonfly, yeah. Great colors and texture, though. This one was taken at the walk-a-lap event.
Coqui frog, at the cottage. I need to get back to spraying the ones in our backyard; it's starting to sound chorus-like out there.
Fortunatly, this is a very small bug in real life, less than an inch long. Very distinctive looking, though.
