Dresners Do Kona
Our big Spring Break adventure this year was a two-night Kona Coast trip. We got to do a few things we'd never done before, and had a lot of fun.
We were staying at our favorite Captain Cook hangout, the Manago; low frills, but a great balcony. We brought the ukuleles obviously.
Both nights, the ukes came out. Caught Max in a great moment, here: looks like a real rocker!
Another of our favorite hangouts is the Waikoloa Hilton: we did an afternoon there. Max loves swinging in the hammocks.
We actually found a whole set of gardens and racket courts we'd not seen before.
We've been trying for almost the whole time we've lived here to get the Japanese-style room at the Manago: we finally got it! That is a Go set in the corner, and I did show Max how to play. With a nine-stone handicap (and a little coaching), he beat me the second game.
Max loved the futon beds, and the screens, and the mats....
And the Bath! The Manago is famous for its no-frills rooms: whenever we mentioned that we'd gotten the Japanese rooms, people said "Oh, the one with the bath!" We all got to take Japanese-style baths (without the clothes, obviously).
Gotta have an action shot: Max at the playground across from the hotel, early morning.
Max, taking a picture of Daddy.
Daddy, taking a picture of Max! A lot of people see me like this....
